Word of the Week: Cynosure

While am doing my usual writing I encounter a word Cynosure. I dont have any idea about this word. So I look it up in the dictionayr and here's what I've got.

Cynosure is something that provides guidance ( as Polaris guides mariners). It is also something that strongly attracts attention and admiration.

Examples:

1. The captain of the cynosure had now finished his instructions.
2. By wearing elegant dress could make you a cynosure in the party.

Synonyms:

Famous, focus of attention, center of attraction, and celebrity
